About this kit

Kidcore takes the loud, happy palette of a primary-school classroom and wears it on purpose: red, yellow and blue blocks, a dinosaur on a lunchbox, a roller coaster ticket, and a face pulling its tongue out at the camera. Toy shops and sticker makers use it for a new range, colourful clothing brands for a drop, family-friendly cafรฉs for a weekend event, and grown-up creators for a nostalgia post about the games they played at eight. Where kawaii is soft and round, kidcore is squared-off and bright, so the sections here lean on shapes. The blocks set supplies the colours, the toy-box set brings dinosaurs and picture-book animals, the fairground set covers rides and juggling, and the silly-faces set carries the mood. Build a caption from two colours and one character, and leave the pastel shades to another kit.

Using these emoji well

  • Two colour blocks and one character are enough for a line; every colour at once reads as a test pattern rather than a toy box.
  • Kidcore is squared-off and bright, so leave the soft pinks and lilacs to the soft pastel kit and the round mascots to kawaii.
  • Coloured squares are announced as "red square" and "yellow square" by a screen reader, so a colour-only caption needs the product name written out.
